Step 1 - Play the story and enjoy it, making separate saves at the beginning of each "Year". If this is a concern then use the 4th slot so if you intend upon utilizing cross save with the Vita but make sure you are saving in slots 1-3.

It is worth mentioning that the first 3 save slots are automatically uploaded to the cloud if you are online.
